Leader
While attending graduate school, I served as the President of GLOBAL, an organization for students in the Geography and Community Development Graduate Groups at UC Davis. I served as the first-year student representative on the Community Development Executive Committee. As President of the Howard County Young Democrats, I helped re-establish the club’s presence in the county. I co-created a vision and mission with a leadership team recruited from diverse backgrounds. I led fundraising efforts to support our work supporting leadership development, building community, and taking action on the things we care about.
Educator
Engaging in knowledge exchanges on a volunteer basis has been a significant part of my life. I currently learn and grow in community with others in two cooperative educational spaces in California; the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen and the UC Davis Craft Center. I’ve served as an English as an additional language educator with English Opens Doors in Chile, a tutor, and a workshop planner and facilitator with the NAACP and the Howard County Conservancy. I’ve worked with students from pre-K through college.
Organizer
I’ve worked as a volunteer for local political candidates as well as an advocate for social and environmental justice issues. I remain dedicated to serving as a planner and designer of coordinated systematic efforts across various domains. This has encompassed training and inspiring volunteers, orchestrating and adjusting events amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and communications management across community groups in support of advocacy initiatives.
